The DP4601e is a digital radio from Motorola. Available for both UHF and VHF frequencies, the DP4601e has an amass of features making it ideal for a variety of working environments. The front of the radio is made up of a 5-line full colour display, alongside having a partial keypad for easy navigation. 5 programmable buttons allow for customization of the DP4601e to fit the work forces requirements, an emergency button is also present to help ensure rapid response to critical incidents in the workplace.
An Ingress Protection Rating of IP68 means that the DP4601e is fully protected against dust, whilst also being able to withstand immersion in water for long periods of time. Built to Military Standards (MIL-STD-810 D/E) the DP4601e is rugged and reliable, with the capabilities to continue operating in harsher working environments.
The DP4601e has various safety features pre-installed. Lone Worker sends out a distress signal should a radio within the fleet be inactive for a set period of time, this allowing for the user to be found quickly should there be an emergency. Transmit Interrupt allows for an important message to be prioritised over current communications, whether this be for an emergency situation or to put out new instructions to a team. The DP4601e also has VOX Voice Activation capabilities, this will allow for the user of the radio to speak hands free should it be needed.
Additional software purchases can add a variety of different features to your Motorola DP4601e. Man Down an additional extra, is a necessary feature should you be working in an environment where there is risk to life. Indoor Location Tracking, Connect Plus and Wi-Fi are all available via additional software downloads.

TDMA is a technology that allows several users to share the same frequency channel by dividing the signal into different time slots. With DMR this is two time slots to every 12.5KHz frequency channel allocation. Before DMR every 12.5KHz frequency allocation could carry just one broadcast of RF traffic. Now with DMR 12.5KHz bandwidth allows two voice channels. See the video below for an explanation on how this works.
Capacity plus is a quasi-trunking solutions that uses DMR TDMA time slot technology to mimic trunking technology. Capacity Plus will automatically select an available time slot for the radio trasmission. This allows for potentially unlimited channels or talk groups. The only restriction is the amount of available time slots.
Capacity Plus is only available for re-repeater-based systems, as it's essentially a repeater licence upgrade. With a basic Capacity Plus repeater licence you get 25 radio licences included. Any Capacity Plus compatible radio will work on a Capacity Plus enabled repeater.

Linked Capacity Plus
Linked Capacity Plus is an extension of the Capacity Plus system and allows for up to 15 sites. This enables the user to potentially build a reasobably large multi-site system at relatively low cost.

For more information see our
Capacity Plus & Linked Capacity Plus is repeater-based and is not available without a repeater.
Transmit interrupt is a feature that enables a high priority transmission to take priority over normal priority transmissions. For example a supervisor might want to make an important announcement to the team or call for an evacuation in the event of a incident.
Transmit Interrupt Information Video
Transmit Interrupt is a standard feature of the Motorola DP4600e.
MPT1327 is an analogue trunking soution that makes use of multiple repeaters and creates "channel pools". How it works is that when a radio needs to make a call (or transmission) the MPT1327 controller allocates a free repeater channel to the radio. When the call ends, th e channel is allocated back to the available channel pool. The MPT1327 solution is now deprecated in favour of more modern digital solutions such as DMR or dPMR Tier II and Tier III.
There are stil a very many MPT1327 solutions still installed and that's why some new radios have the ability to operate on an MPT1327 system. Of course when operating on MPT1327, even a digital radio will have to operate in analogue mode as MPT1327 voice traffic is analogue. Usually MPT1327 functionality is an optional extra by way of having an MPT1327 option board fitted in the radio, or a software activation.
MPT1327 is an optional extra for the Motorola DP4600e and requires an option board installing. You can choose this option when ordering if you need MPT1327 functionality.
Lone Worker Feature
Lone Worker is a feature found on many two way radios where it's able to send a pre-determined signal, for example a distress call or alarm, to other radios in range, Lone Worker requires some type of interaction from the radio user after a period of radio inactivity. An example of this is the radio can be set to require the radio operator to interact with his or her radio once every 30 minutes. If they fail to do so, their radio will start making an audible sound. If there is still no interaction with his or her radio within 1 further minute, a alarm will sound to other team members to tell them a team member is not responding to Lone Worker. The supervisor can then dispatch another team member to the non-reponsive team member's last known location to offer assistance.
Lone Worker is built-in to the Motorola DP4600e.
